Neha Popat

Profile and History

Dr. Neha Popat is an Assistant Professor in the area of Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management at the Goa Institute of Management. She earned her Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Management Indore. She has also spent time as a visiting international student at the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business, University of Victoria, Canada, auditing coursework in Organizational Behaviour and engaging with the global research community. Her doctoral thesis is titled, “Investigating Workplace Gaslighting”. Her research broadly examines workplace mistreatment, leadership, and biases in leader perceptions. She uses qualitative as well as quantitative approaches in her research.

She has presented her research at the British Academy of Management (BAM) Conference, the Indian Academy of Management (INDAM) Conference, and the IPPA World Congress on Positive Psychology, and received the Runners-Up award in the HR Track Best Paper Award at the 10th INDAM Conference 2025. She has served as a reviewer for the Academy of Management (AOM), European Academy of Management (EURAM), BAM, and INDAM. Neha's teaching interests include Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Positive Psychology, Leadership, and Gender in Management, and she brings a “learning by doing” philosophy to the classroom, incorporating activities and case studies to engage students.

Prior to academia, Neha spent a decade in direct tax consulting including at Price Waterhouse & Co. LLP, and Deloitte Haskins & Sells LLP. She is a Chartered Accountant and holds a B.Com (Honours) from the University of Calcutta.
