Chief Guest’s address
The Chief Guest for the 25 th Convocation of GIM was Mr. Neeraj Roy, Founder & Managing Director of Hungama Digital Media. Mr. Roy has been pivotal in the Internet revolution of the nation, significantly influencing the development of India’s digital entertainment sector. He was voted among the ‘Top Ten MobiThinkers’ and ‘50 Most Influential People in Mobile Entertainment’ globally. He offered a powerful and forward-looking perspective on the evolving world of work. “You are part of a resurgent India,” he said, highlighting the scale of the nation’s digital economy.

Urging graduates to embrace lifelong learning, Mr. Roy remarked, “Your education
doesn’t end here—you’ll have 20 more graduations in the next 20–30 years.” He
emphasized the importance of constant evolution, innovation, and adaptability,
stating that in a world transformed by technology, AI will not replace humans, it will
replace repetitive tasks. In other words, AI will only magnify intelligence, not
substitute it. He also painted a bold vision of the future, quipping, “In the next ten
years, we won’t just be working remotely—we’ll be working interplanetary. Forget
WFH—think WFS: Work From Space.”
Recognizing GIM’s culture of giving back, Mr. Roy expressed admiration for the
institute’s values and urged students to stay curious, creative, and committed to
continuous upskilling in order to solve the changing working dynamics. He concluded
that the only way to thrive in an ever-changing world is to unlearn and relearn.
The Presidential Address
During his Presidential Address, Mr. Ashank Desai, Chairman of the Board of Governors at GIM and founder of Mastek, spoke with pride about the institution’s journey and future aspirations. “Convocation is a moment of anticipation—we celebrate you, your resilience, and your growth,” he said.

Reflecting on his 16-year journey with GIM, Mr. Desai shared that the institute is in
the final stages of receiving the prestigious AACSB accreditation, a hallmark of
global excellence in management education. “Once completed, GIM will be among
the very few institutions in India to hold both AMBA and AACSB accreditations.”
He also spoke of GIM’s bold transition into a full-fledged university, noting that this
transformation is not only about expanding academic reach but also deepening the
institute’s impact on society, government, and the nation at large.
Acknowledging the Centres of Excellence and the culture of experiential learning
beyond the classroom, Mr. Desai congratulated the Class of 2025, urging them to
lead with empathy, ethics, and a sense of purpose. “The world now requires
responsible leadership—leaders who are not just skilled, but guided by ethics,
empathy, and a sense of purpose.”
Director’s address
The Director’s address by Dr. Ajit Parulekar this year opened with a reflection on the volatility of today’s world—often described as VUCA—and the growing impact of climate change, illustrated aptly by the unseasonal rains that marked the event. The message was clear: adaptability and responsiveness are critical in both education and industry.

Dr. Ajit concluded with a powerful message to the graduating cohort: to look back on
their personal and professional growth over the past two years and embrace their
future roles with clarity and humility. The reflections drew from two influential works:
1. "In a world deluged by irrelevant information, clarity is power." — Yuval Noah
Harari
2. "The purpose of learning isn’t to affirm your beliefs; it’s to evolve them." —
Adam Grant
Graduates were encouraged to remain open-minded, compassionate, and balanced
instead of being dogmatic about their views and moral compasses. He reminded the
students that, “the world needs many more moderates, and a lot more compassion.”
Valedictory speech
The convocation also featured a heartfelt valedictory speech by Mr. Suraj Kumar, who reflected on reflected on the batch’s early days, where they arrived with ambition and naivety, only to be shaped by rigorous academics, group projects, late- night gyaan sessions, and the relentless “GIM Never Sleeps” spirit.

Amid caffeine-fueled nights and tight deadlines, students evolved from individuals in different specializations into one united Brand GIM. The speech humorously recounts hostel dynamics, strategic assignment submissions, and the legendary downgrades that taught hard-earned lessons in ethics and discipline. Gratitude was extended to faculty, family, peers, the management, and support staff for their unwavering contributions to student life. With a nod to Goa’s ‘Susegad’ culture and GIM’s emphasis on sustainability, the speaker urged the batch to carry forward the mindset of responsibility, innovation, and impact. He quoted the famous Hindi movie dialogue, “Zindagi badi honi chahiye, lambi nahi,” to inspire meaningful, bold lives ahead.

This convocation reinforces GIM’s three-decade legacy of producing globally competent leaders. The institute boasts an illustrious alumni network of over 6,500 professionals, including more than 831 alumni placed internationally across Fortune 500 companies. Ranked among the top 11 private B-schools in India, GIM was also named one of the world's top seven pioneering B-schools in the Positive Impact Rating 2023. With its vibrant campus life, diverse student body, and industry-oriented curriculum, Goa Institute of Management remains a sought-after destination for management education.
