GIM Hosts Nepalese Bankers for a Cross-Border FinTech MDP
As South Asia’s banking sector gears up for its next leap, GIM is nurturing the digital leaders who will shape its future. In the recently concluded high-impact Management Development Program (MDP), GIM empowered regional leaders through targeted FinTech and Digital Leadership learning. The program, in partnership with Kathmandu Fintek (led by Mr. Sanjib Subba— Founding President of FinTech Alliance Nepal), served as a vibrant platform for cross-border knowledge exchange, anchored in India’s dynamic digital financial ecosystem.

Exploring India’s Digital FinTech Revolution
India’s journey toward digital transformation has captured global attention, and this MDP was tailored to offer the Nepalese delegation a deep dive into its most relevant aspects. With the Nepalese banking sector on the cusp of significant digital reform, the bankers found immense value in examining India’s progress in areas such as digital banking, digital public infrastructure, AI-powered credit solutions, and FinTech regulation.
Participants gained first-hand insights into how India has blended policy innovation, technology, and financial inclusion to reshape its financial services landscape—learnings that could hold valuable implications for Nepal’s own modernization efforts.

Program Highlights
The week-long immersive experience combined academic depth with practical exposure. Key components of the program included:
- Lectures and hands-on sessions on digital transformation and emerging business models in financial services
- Applied modules on AI/ML for credit risk, blockchain applications, and the DeFi ecosystem
- Interactive workshops focused on FinTech innovation tailored to Nepal’s unique context
- Industry exposure, including field visits to Indian FinTech institutions to witness technology in action
- Capstone presentations, where participants demonstrated learning outcomes through strategic proposals
- Cultural immersion, giving delegates a taste of Goa’s vibrant culture through curated experiences and local explorations—making the program not only enriching but also memorable
