Renowned artists Ms. Shubha Mudgal & Dr. Aneesh Pradhan participate in the Distinguished Visiting Scholar Programme.

The Distinguished Visiting Scholars engagement is a one-week programme with Ms Shubha Mudgal and Dr Aneesh Pradhan. It intends to break the notion of functional silos and see how art forms can be useful in management. Today, the much esteemed 'Music-a-Thon: Hackathon Mainstreaming the Ghumat' was launched. It was a hackathon to discuss future strategies for the instrument and its practitioners from GIM.

Students were presented with the introduction, context, and problems of Goa’s heritage musical instrument, the Ghumat. Ghumat Artist Shri Kanta Gaude Ji and his team gave the students a soulful performance.

Registered GIM student teams participated in an initial session that provided them with an introduction to the instrument, playing style, and contexts and then were presented with the challenges faced by Ghumat makers and artists in the subsequent interaction.

Teams were then asked to present strategies for countering these problems. A report of this interaction and a case study will be prepared jointly with the students and faculties that will pave the way for overcoming the challenges related to Ghumat.
