Rahul Sukumaran

History & Profile

Dr. Rahul Sukumaran holds a PhD in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management from the Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli. His core research investigates the interplay between identity and organizational change, with his work presented at esteemed international conferences including the European Group of Organization Studies (EGOS) and the European Congress of Psychology (ECP). With a solid base in interpretive research methodology and philosophy of research, he believes in problematizing interesting research contexts revolving around the identity literature, where the sense of self often becomes questioned, undergoes change and (re)constructs the understanding of ‘who am I?’.

Prior to joining GIM as a full-time faculty member, Dr. Sukumaran brings extensive academic experience from his tenures as faculty at leading institutions such as TAPMI Manipal and Amrita University, Coimbatore. He has instructed a diverse range of management courses across undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels, including Organizational Behavior, Qualitative Research Methods (PhD), Philosophy of Science (PhD), Employment Relations, Modern Employment Relations (elective), Labour Law, Learning by Case Method, and Human Resource Management.

In the realm of executive development, Dr. Sukumaran has designed and delivered leadership programs for organizations such as MRPL, Canara Bank etc. Furthermore, his expertise was sought by the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, where he served as a resource person, contributing to digital content creation, training, and consulting for micro-entrepreneurs.

Prior to his academic career, Dr. Sukumaran gained valuable corporate experience in organizations such as Pearson and Oxford, where he held editorial and marketing roles within the publishing industry. This blend of corporate and academic exposure provides him with a unique and well-rounded perspective towards knowledge creation and dissemination.

Driven by a commitment to continuous personal and professional growth, Dr. Sukumaran is passionate about inspiring others to pursue their aspirations and achieve their full potential. As a part of this initiative, he has mentored aspiring leaders to build a platform for career advancement and achieve their career goals.
