Swarna Parameswaran
Profile & History
Dr Swarna holds a Ph.D. in Management with a specialization in Economics from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. She has completed her Master of Arts (Economics) from the University of Hyderabad and her Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Economics from the University of Delhi. Additionally, she has obtained specialized training in Microeconometric Methods from the Barcelona School of Economics, Spain.
Dr Swarna is an empirical development economist with interests in household consumption behaviour, poverty and vulnerability, gender gaps in access to finance, and healthcare management. Her research has been published in top-tier economics journals, including Applied Economics, and her most recent work is at the intersection of public policy and management, focusing on road infrastructure and economic growth, and NCD burden among the ageing population. Additionally, she has consistently received acceptances for her work at prestigious international and national conferences, including the Econometric Society, Midwest Econometrics Group (MEG), East Asian Economic Association (EAEA), Society for the Study of Economic Inequality (ECINEQ), Asian Development Bank (ADB), University of Michigan, Delhi School of Economics, IIM Bangalore, and IIM Lucknow.
Her teaching interests include microeconomics, health economics, macroeconomics, managerial econometrics, and public policy.
