Conclave on Retail Logistics held at GIM

Nov 17: Goa Institute of Management (GIM) in collaboration with Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) had organized a conclave on “Retail Logistics” on 17th November 2022. The conclave was attended by 32 participants from the retail sector across Goa.

Prof. Ajit Parulekar, the Director of GIM, welcomed the guest speaker and the participants. He then briefed the audience on the journey of GIM and followed by setting the context for the conclave by sharing his thoughts on Retail branding and implications for retail logistics.

Mr. Ralph de Sousa, the President of GCCI, informed the audience regarding the GCCI’s role in preparing the draft policy for retail logistics in Goa which aimed at the protection of the Goan retailers.

Mr. Santush Kumar Pandde, CEO of IRF Trusted Mark LLP delivered the keynote address on “Trends and strategies in Retail logistics”. He mentioned that the old days of doing things manually are gone with the advent of the IT technologies. He emphasized the importance of measuring different parameters in order to develop strategies for retail business, along with continuous discussions, sharing of the knowledge within the retail community and learning the best practices, which he highlighted as the key to success.

The keynote address was followed by three technical briefing sessions. The first session was conducted by Prof. Kiran K. on Optimizing Inventory. The second session was conducted by Prof. Raj Amonkar on Optimizing transportation cost and the third session was conducted by Prof. Vishwesh Singbal which focused on Retail logistics technologies & Data Analytics.

Before the final closing remarks of the conclave, Mr. Hari Kaul, General Manager of CMM Arena, thanked GIM for organizing a wonderful conclave.

Prof. Venkatesh Naga, the Dean academics at GIM, concluded the conclave with remarks on the collective collaboration required to make Goa a retail hub.
