Amol Arun Adkonkar
Profile & History
Dr. Amol Adkonkar serves as a Senior Lecturer in the area of Healthcare Management at the Goa Institute of Management (GIM). He holds a Ph.D. in Supply Chain Management and an MBA in Pharmaceutical Management from the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali), an institute of national importance. His academic foundation is complemented by deep expertise in business development, competitive intelligence, and strategic operations within the life sciences and pharmaceutical sectors.
Prior to his academic appointment, Dr. Adkonkar built a robust portfolio of industry experience in healthcare consulting and strategy. He served as a Senior Analyst at Inizio Ignite, where he provided high-level strategy consulting for the Putnam Knowledge Center and Putnam Specialty Therapeutics, specializing in competitive strategy, prioritization, epidemiology, and market access & pricing. His corporate background also includes a tenure as a Senior Research Associate at Fuld & Co., where he led competitive intelligence initiatives, and as an Analyst at LucidQuest, managing coverage of premier international medical conferences such as ASH and AACR.
Dr. Adkonkar’s public health experience is equally significant. As an Assistant Director at the Goa State AIDS Control Society, he was instrumental in streamlining the patient journey from diagnosis to treatment, managing care teams, and overseeing the procurement of Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART). Additionally, in his role as a Consultant for Tongadive, he focused on the technological backbone of the pharmaceutical supply chain, working on "Track and Trace" systems, GS1 serialization, and Digital Product Passports.
As an active researcher, Dr. Adkonkar constantly tries to bridges the gap between healthcare management theory and operational reality. His research interests focus on Supply Chain Management (SCM) agility, SCM practices, competitive advantage and organizational performance within the pharmaceutical industry. His scholarly contributions include publications in journals such as Paradigm, with recent work validating instruments for measuring SCM agility and exploring the impact of information infrastructure on supply chain efficiency. He continues to leverage his diverse background to drive research that addresses critical challenges in healthcare and pharmaceutical management.
